The defining character of a panic attack is the sense of an imminent loss of control. This shows up in a driving phobia in two ways. Half of those with a driving phobia are afraid of being a passenger in the car, because they have a sense of not being in control. They may avoid aeroplanes for the same reason. The other half are afraid of driving the car because they are afraid of losing control of the wheel and causing an accident.
Does this sound familiar? Do you plan your route to avoid certain roads such as motorways or dual carriageways? Or do you only drive when absolutely necessary? How would it feel to be free of your driving phobia, and take back control?
Our unique experience as therapists and driving instructors means you can not only benefit from our years of therapeutic experience but also have the opportunity to ‘expose’ yourself to your fear in the safest environment, that of a fully insured, dual controlled car, with a calm, experienced person beside you.
This can be for general driving phobia, or specific fears such as motorways, parking, town driving etc
